Vacation with the kids?
When our kids were very young (under 13 years old), we have decided that we should not take them with us while traveling abroad, exploring new countries. We knew that they will not enjoy driving the long hours, moving from one hotel to the next, walking city streets for full days or even taking long hikes in the mountains. We were convinced that if the kids will not enjoy the trip, we could not enjoy it as well. Moreover, kids will not remember any of these discovery trips anyway, all their memories from our vacations were of swimming, jumping, riding, snorkeling etc.
Very quickly we have concluded that our vacations should be divided into two types; the “discovery type vacation” to which only grownups would go, and the “family vacations” that were designed to keep all happy –the grownups and the kids.
“Star vacations” –
Our family has discovered that the best vacation for the entire family is what we call “star vacations”, where we stayed in one location the entire time, in our “home away from home”. We would go on short excursions to explore the surroundings, but always come back to sleep at the rented house. These kind of trips we call a star trip – going out each day to a different direction but always come back to your central hub.
Why rent a private villa?
For some years we have tried many types of accommodations for our family vacations, such as hotel rooms and holiday apartments. Quickly we have realized that the best solution for our summer family vacations is to rent a villa, preferably with a private swimming pool. The advantages of a private villa are obvious; first, the cost – a luxury villa with a swimming pool will cost as one room in a luxury hotel, so if you need more than one room in the hotel for your family, the math is simple. Second, we loved our serenity and privacy in the villa. At the hotel, you and your family must share the facilities with hundreds of other guests, while our villa is entirely and exclusively for us. Finally, a private luxury villa allows us to bond as a family; having our meals together (mostly outdoors in the shade), playing together in the pool or ending the day watching a movie together in the living room…In retrospect, our family vacations in these private villas, gave us all some of the most precious moments of life.
Why in Paphos, Cyprus?
We love everything about Cyprus. In our opinion it is the perfect destination for a European family vacation. The city of Paphos and its surrounding area has become a leading European vacation site, with over a million tourists vacationing in the Paphos area in 2017.
Routine flights flying in every day to the Paphos International Airport, make arrival and departure to Paphos very simple. The main attraction in our opinion is the combination of great weather with sunny days, sandy beaches, top restaurants / pubs, and the beautiful Troodos Mountains. This unique combination makes Paphos the perfect destination for a family vacation.
While in Cyprus –
In addition to the villa, we have always hired a small car to allow us exploring the beautiful Paphos area and the traditional villages on Troodos Mountains. The car rental expense is marginal within the total vacation cost while its effect will be worth it several folds.
What to do with the kids in Paphos?
If you have kids to entertain and you need some additional ideas beside the regular pool / beach routine, the Paphos area can offer some nice alternatives such as the Paphos Zoo, The Aphrodite Water-Park and the Sparti Rope-Park.
